I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Overview:
Days to live. Hours to love. Seconds to kill.
From the moment Alina touches London’s hottest fae superstar, breaking one of the laws founded to protect all of her kind, her fate – and the fae – close in.
Below ground, the fae High Queen plots to claim the city as her own and places her pawns, ready for the battle to come. A battle she cannot lose, but for one small problem – Alina. There are four ancient keepers powerful enough to keep the queen in her prison. Three are dead. One remains … And to fight back, Alina risks sacrificing everything she has come to love.
My Review:
Let me first start off by saying that I really enjoy most books by Pippa DaCosta. That being said, I'm very"eh" about this novel. While the underlying idea of this story was intriguing, the rest of the novel fell flat.
I would have to say that I absolutely felt nothing for the characters. Reign is predictably boring and brooding and there was absolutely nothing unique or interesting about him. He was a definite stereotype of a character. The other problem I had with him and the writing style was that one moment he is named Sovereign and the next he is nicknamed Reign. I actually had to stop and go back a few pages to make sure I didn't miss something before I figured out it was the same character.
Next is the character Alina. The only thing remotely interesting about this extremely annoying female lead character is the fact that halfway through the book we find out she isn't human.
So, in a nutshell, while it was an awesome idea, the characters destroyed any originality it could have had. My final thoughts that I was left with upon finishing this book was, what a shame.
