Ally Marshall isn’t just a wolf shifter — she’s a Seer.
But a girl doesn’t exactly need special powers to know that Derren Hudson despises her entire kind. Disdain practically rolls off the Beta of the Mercury Pack . . . disdain mixed with a healthy dose of desire. And no matter how much the ruggedly handsome male appeals to her, this is one call of the wild she’s determined to ignore.
After one betrayal too many, Derren doesn’t have much use for Seers — except for Ally.
Forced into acting as her protector, he finds himself intensely and passionately drawn to the woman who incites his primal instinct to claim.
And when enemies target the pack, Ally’s gift may be just what the Mercury Pack needs.
Can he put his distrust aside, or will he force himself to turn his back on the one woman who makes his inner beast howl?
My Review :
*** 3.5 STARS ***
I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a honest review.
Well, now that was unexpectedly fun. At first, I thought this was going to just be another one of my 'popcorn romances' that I like to consume from time to time. Boy, I was definitely pleasantly surprised to find out how wrong I was.
Imagine the Mercy Thompson series only with erotica writing thrown in. This novel had actual substance. A good, strong plot and dark edgy characters.
I'm not the biggest fan of erotica so this had me a little off guard, but I found that this authors way of inserting it into the story came across in a definitely positive manner.
My really big sticking point would be the fact that while the 'true mates' bonds is supposed to be instantly recognizable, all the characters in Wright's novels somehow don't know about it first. That just kinds of rubbed me the wrong way.... once, okay; but multiple times? No.
Anyways, I have enjoyed this book and I know it's a bit backwards, but I've started on her Phoenix pack books as well.
